Welcome!

On October 4, 2008, our beloved son, brother, husband, father, and friend, Officer Bradley Alan Moody was involved in a fatal car accident while on duty for Richmond Police Department in California… three days later, Bradley saved lives because he had made the honorable choice to register with the California Organ and Tissue Registry.

On May 8, 2010, the California Peace Officers Association will hold its Second Annual Memorial Run benefiting survivor families of Peace Officers killed in the line of duty. At last year’s event, we were delighted to discover that Brad’s lung recipient, Michael Lause, was not only present but PARTICIPATING! He shared his experience with Richmond P.D. family members and vowed to be back. (Michael is #408 in photo).

This year, Michael will be RUNNING this event with the Moody Family and Richmond Police Department Family cheering him on. BRADLEY will be running through Michael, and MICHAEL will be running because of Bradley’s gift of life. The entire Moody Family is proud to know that Bradley’s lung recipient not only lives on, BUT ALSO is thriving in his life and sharing this special experience with us.

In honor of Bradley’s choice to register as an organ donor and because Nor-Cal COPS supports survivor families of fallen officers, the Moody Family is organizing a silent auction which will benefit Nor-Cal Concerns of Police Survivors (Nor-Cal COPS) and Donate Life California Organ and Tissue Donor Registry. 75% of funds raised will go to Nor-Cal COPS and 25% will go to California Organ and Tissue Donor Registry to assist in their constant efforts to raise awareness on this important subject.

We are currently seeking donation items or gift certificates for this special fundraiser. If you would like to donate, kindly contact Betty Moody or Kelli Wellhausen. No donation is too small and we will gladly take cash donations as well!

The entire Moody Family is eternally grateful for all of the love and support they have received since the tragic day they lost their loved one, and are honored to be able to “give back” by sponsoring this fundraiser. We are proud that Brad saved lives as he left this earth, and hope you will come out and meet Michael and support this wonderful event.

A special thank you to the California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) for allowing us to be a part of such an honorable event.

* Please see links on right for all organizations mentioned and please see post below for Bradley’s story as lovingly told by his brother, Richmond Police Officer James Moody, Jr. *

God Bless and Rest In Peace Brad!

  3. Losing Leonard and David a couple days after Christmas in 1992 and seeing firsthand the pain and devastation it caused their families and each one of us at RPD, was the inspiration for the CPOA Memorial Run all these years later. This event was created to support the families of our fallen officers and to reconnect with our families annually. For me, having Brad Moody, another RPD Brother, as one of the 2009 Honored Officers memorialized during our first event was a tragic irony.
Although I had never met Brad, I wish that I had. In recent weeks, I've had the privilege of meeting and talking with some of the Moody family and Michael Lause (Lauz-ee), the man who lives and breaths today using Brad's donated lungs. I have learned from them what a great man and compassionate Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Friend and Warrior, Brad truly was. This is the kind of person I want to be surrounded by.

I believe that there is no greater way to Honor these men then to stay connected and care for their families, now and forever! I’m looking forward to seeing many old and new faces from RPD on May 8th - I'm looking forward to watching Michael Lause run in the event in Brad's honor and with Brad's lungs - and I'm looking forward to meeting the entire Moody family!
